All You Need To Know

The Harper Brothers

The Harper Brothers 'Eagle Tour 2011'

Currently based in Serre Chevalier in The French Alps, The Harper Brothers have semi retired to the sun and snow. The band are all ex pro musicians and have decent musical histories but as they say “that does not make you any good – loads of shit bands have good musicians”. The only ‘show off’ statistic that this band has is that they boast 15 Top of The Pops performances between them (and they are even a bit embarrassed by that). Also as a band of pissheads they are now lucky enough to own their own bar – ‘The Station’.

Winter means 8 gigs a week and a more relaxed 2 a week in the summer. The current Harper Brothers take it easy with a life of skiing, mountain biking and fitness training and self preservation. Actually that is bollocks, they live in The Alps – yeah, own a bar – yeah, but the sports and fitness – nah!

The band chose from a repertoire of over 200 songs and play complete sets as a Rock Band, a Ska Band, Blues Brothers Band and have even been known to perform as Abba, but never weddings due to a Tourette Syndrome problem.

To quote Torchy “It’s fair to say many bands are better than us, but most are shit to watch”

This has made The Harper Brothers one of the most enjoyable live acts you will have ever seen in a civilized country – such as Spain. The songs include a smattering of ‘abuse’ based originals, mixed with covers and versions of covers.

Current Line Up:

  • Torchy Harper: Guitar, Bass, Harmonica
  • Colin Field: Guitars
  • Ash Strain: Guitar, Bass, Drums
  • Rick Lomas: Bass
  • Joe Limbrick: Drums

With this variation the band can perform with 3 to 5 people anywhere, anytime.

Their motto is “We’ll get in the van with no money and do a gig wherever and come back with no money, but having had a bloody good time”.

This motto has seen the band do thousands of gigs in 10 countries and the remarkable thing is they still have fun. So read on for a Harper Brothers History, Discography, Future Plans and a chance to see and hear The Harper Brothers for yourself.

Cheers
